North Arm Rifle Club

Club Competition – 19/2/22 400 yards

19/2/22 400 yards

As usual conditions were deceptive on Saturday afternoon. I overheard someone say “funny how all the people who haven’t shot yet, think the wind is easy today”.

All disciplines struggled with the changing conditions, with the prominent wind from the right, with the occasionally drift from the left. Though the flags at butts were still showing right wind.

Div 6 (S/H)- While last competition Ross S had the win all to himself, he had some competition this week, with Richard and Mark attending. The first stage saw Mark in front by 1 point from both Richard and Ross, Mark starting with a 47.1. It was still a close competition in the second stage with Richard with a 50.2 giving him a 96.4 for the day and Mark shooting a 51.2 taking out the honours with a 98.3. Ross struggled with the wind conditions in the second stage.

Div 5 (FTR) – Looks like competition is going to be tough for the FTR this year.

Once again we saw the top shooters separated by X’s only. Rob G struggled in the first stage with a result of 55.3, though mastered in the second stage with a nice 64.4. He narrowly beat Sarah C who started strong with a 58.4, but wind caught her in the second and she shot a 61.1 finishing 2 X’s behind Rob on 119.5. Third place went to Dave H, with a 117.3

Div 4 (FO) – We had only 3 competitors in the division today, missing both Denis M and Dave B. First place went to Peter C with a 56.3 in the first stage and a nice 63.4 in the second for 119.7 for the day. Andrew B started strong with a 58.3 but struggled in the second stage with elevation and finished with a 57.3, for 115.6 for the day.

Div 3 (FStd) – Corrie H kept up his form, by taking out FStd for the afternoon with a 120.7, closely followed by Des V with 119.5 and third place to Peter B with 118.3.

Div 2 (TRBC) – We saw the return of John T and Tracey to the range this year. John T tried out the table to see if it was easier than laying on the ground. “I think the jury is still out on that one”. Tracey shot consistently and scored a 89.2

Div 1(TRA) – We had 3 shooters this week, with a return to the range for the first time this year with David R, he was a bit rusty on the first range, but came home strong with a 53.3 in the second stage to take out second place with a 99.6. Michelle F, showed that she can still read conditions and scored the only possible on the range in the first stage with a 50.6, the second stage saw her wind reading skills challenged once again with a 51.4 to take out the division with 101.10. Gary McB shot a 96.4 for the day.

Next week is 500 yards practice.
